Teaching and tutoring experience

Paul has taught mathematics - including A level maths and further maths - at a UK comprehensive school for over 25 years. Following life-changing surgery in 2017, Paul stepped down from full-time teaching and now specialises in teaching A level 50% part-time at VI Form, whilst taking on other roles, including, since 2024, online tuition.Paul is most familiar with the Pearson/Edexcel specifications and his vast experience allows him to confidently teach all aspects of pure, statistics and mechanics for A level maths and core pure, further mechanics 1, further statistics 1 and decision mathematics 1 for A level further maths.Teaching with enthusiasm and a friendly persona, Paul uses simple real-world analogies to bring meaning to new concepts and strongly encourages the use of online graphing software and the latest scientific/graphic calculators to aid learning.In addition to A level, Paul is experienced in helping students prepare for the TMUA and ESAT university entrance exams.

Examiner and content creation

Alongside teaching Paul is a KS2 NCT/SATs specialist marker and examines at GCSE for Pearson/Edexcel, having last held both roles in the summer of 2026. In his former role at Save My Exams he was heavily involved in writing and developing revision notes and exam-style questions - with fully worked solutions - for both A level maths and further maths. Paul has previously worked as a freelance content creator, contributing to A level textbooks from CGP and Cambridge Press.
