Reviews shown on this website describe real experiences with our tutors. This page explains where they come from, how we keep them genuine, and what we will and will not do with them.
Where our reviews come from
- Our Google profile. Some reviews were first posted publicly on Google. Where we show one of these it is labelled "via Google", carries its original date, and the text is reproduced without editing.
- Our own feedback questionnaire. We invite feedback after tuition through a private link sent for a real teaching relationship booked through us. A review from this route is only published if the person giving it ticks a box consenting to publication, and it appears under the display name they choose.
How we keep reviews genuine
- Every published review can be traced back to the person who gave it and the tuition it relates to.
- We do not pay for reviews, and we do not offer discounts, gifts or anything else in exchange for a review. If that ever changed, any incentivised review would be clearly labelled as such.
- We do not write reviews ourselves, ask anyone to pose as a client, or submit reviews to other platforms on a client's behalf.
- A tutor's overall score is the simple average of all their published reviews. We do not remove unfavourable reviews to improve a score.
- We also collect ratings against individual questions in our questionnaire. We do not display these per-question ratings yet, because too few reviews include them for the figures to be meaningful. We will start showing them once enough have been collected, and only for reviews where the reviewer actually answered those questions.
How reviews are moderated
- Tutors can reply publicly to a review of them. They cannot edit it, hide it, or decide whether it is published.
- Only the administrator can unpublish a review, and only where it is not genuine, does not relate to a real experience with the tutor, contains offensive or unlawful material, or reveals personal information such as contact details.
- A record is kept of every moderation decision: what was changed, by whom, and when.
Reporting a review
If you believe a review on this site is not genuine, or should not be displayed for any other reason, email office@thealevelmathstutor.co.uk. We will look into it and remove it if it breaches this policy.
