A resit year works best with a steady weekly rhythm: exam questions every week, the Year 13 content taught again, and a tutor watching how you answer. Our programme is built around exactly that.

A resit student has already met every topic on the course. What makes the difference second time round is rarely another first pass through the textbook. It is usually three things:
Our programme provides all three, for considerably less than weekly 1-1 tuition.
Two weekly commitments that together stand in for the timetable school used to provide, with 1-1 tuition alongside if you want it.
A weekly session, typically 60 to 70 minutes, working through real exam questions from across the whole A Level. Never more than six students, so your own answers get looked at and discussed.
Group classes start from £25 a week.
Two hours of interactive live-streamed lessons each week through A Level Maths Academy, which we own and run, covering the full Year 13 specification. Every lesson is recorded, so nothing is lost to a missed week.
Part of A Level Maths Academy Premium membership, included free for students in our group classes or 1-1 tuition.
For particular topics that need more time, including Year 12 content, which the live lessons do not cover. Some resit students add a 1-1 session every week or two alongside the group.
Settle into the weekly routine of group and live lessons, find out where last summer's marks were lost, and arrange your exam entry.
The live lessons work through the Year 13 content, with exam questions on it each week in the group, and any Year 12 gaps worked on alongside.
Full papers under timed conditions, and a close look at where the marks are still going.
The exams.
Starting later in the year is fine too. The group works on exam questions throughout, and the recorded live lessons mean you can catch up on anything already covered.
A Level Maths is assessed entirely by exams at the end of the course, with no coursework, so a resit means taking every paper again in the same summer. The exams run in May and June only.
If you have left school or college, you enter through an exam centre as a private candidate. Many schools will enter their former students, and there are centres that specialise in private candidates. Each centre sets its own fees and deadlines.
The exam boards' entry deadline for the summer is usually in February, and many centres close their own entries well before that. Late entries cost more, so it is worth arranging in the autumn.
Because the whole qualification is taken again, you are not tied to the board you sat before, as long as your centre offers the one you choose. Between them our tutors cover all the major boards, so we can talk this through at the consultation.
Resitting is not only for school leavers. Adults come back to A Level Maths for a university place, a career change or their own satisfaction. Many of our tutors have experience of working with adult students and private candidates, and if you are paying for your own tuition you do not need a parent or guardian at the consultation.
