Tom has been a teacher of mathematics for 11 years, having completed an PhD in Applied Mathematics at the University of Nottingham where he also developed and delivered on post graduate courses. Since he started teaching his specialism has been post 16 mathematics and he is an expert in the A-Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics specifications of all the English awarding organisations. He has a consistent track record of supporting students across the attainment range but has a specific passion for supporting students to achieve the top grades.

He has recently moved to a Sixth Form College to re-focus on his Mathematics teaching, alongside his work as a Post 16 lead for a local Maths Hub where he runs CPD for other teachers. Prior to this he was a Head of Sixth Form in Derbyshire for five years.

Tom is also an A-Level examiner and uses this knowledge to ensure his students are aware of potential pitfalls when it comes to the exams.

He has supported many students with successful applications to study STEM subjects at Oxbridge and is also an A-Level examiner.
