Geoff has been teaching A Level Maths and Further maths since 2006 in a high achieving school. For most of that time he was the department lead on Further Maths and MAT/STEP preparation. He has taught all areas of the curriculum and is particularly expert in Pure and Mechanics. Until recently he was the Head of Maths but has now taken phased retirement to allow himself more time for other interests and for tutoring.

Geoff’s extensive teaching experience at all levels of ability helps him adapt his teaching to the pupil’s needs and find ways of explaining concepts and techniques that are accessible to the pupils. His main goal is to develop confidence and self-belief in his pupils as well as developing their problem-solving skills. He has extensive experience of teaching Further Maths and helping many pupils achieve top grades in both Maths and Further Maths. He is also adept at helping less confident pupils boost their attainment and enable them to aim higher.

As a long standing A Level examiner Geoff has gained extensive experience in the application of mark schemes and how marks may be lost. This has been invaluable in informing his teaching by helping pupils watch for pitfalls and avoiding common mistakes. Geoff has a successful track record of tutoring at all levels from Foundation GCSE to A Level FM and STEP/MAT. He has a calm and approachable style and enjoys working with pupils and helping them to success.
